Pflugerville is located in the heart of central Texas, just north of Austin. The city has approximately 50,000 people and is expected to double by 2020. The city was founded in 1860 when Williams Bohls established a general store and post office. Downtown Pflugerville has much shopping, dining, small businesses, banks and holds festivals and fairs throughout the year. They city is located both in Travis and Williamson counties.
The city of Pflugerville offers water, sewer and trash services and has its own police department and fire department.

Pflugerville Independent School District has 18 elementary schools, five middle schools, 3 high schools and an “opportunity center.” It has over 26,000 students enrolled and is expected to double in the next ten years.
Pfluger Park is located centrally and has hike and bike trails, picnic tables, BBQ grills, restrooms, a basketball court, a sand volleyball court and a playscape. Gilleland Creek Park, located next to Pfluger Park, offers a covered pavilion available for reservation, and a junior Olympic sized swimming pool. Also in Pflugerville are Scott B. Mentzer Pool and the Green Red Barn, which is a demonstration in renewable energy. There are also many more parks throughout Pflugerville in some of the neighborhoods. Pflugerville also has a community library and sports youth organizations. Lake Pflugerville is a 180-acre reservoir built to provide residents with drinking water. Residents can also enjoy it for swimming, fishing and non-motorized boating.
Pflugerville was chosen by Forbes Magazine as one of the fastest growing U.S. suburban cities. The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation helps promote economic development in the city.
