Why so Many Embrace Austin Life
Why so many embrace Austin life
There are many reasons why The Travel Channel named Austin, TX the top college town across America, and why it is also one of the fastest growing cities across the USA, because Austin is considered “hip and cool” across the younger crowd. Since Austin has been known as the place to visit and be for its very live music scene for the last few years, it is no surprise many of these youngsters after growing up decided to move into the area. The live music scene is just one of the reasons why young prefer the Austin life over anywhere else, as there are many others as well.
Austin is probably best known to youngsters around the US for its film and music festival called South by Southwest and for the three-day musical festival that features a wide range of musical acts from indie to emo to mainstream called the Austin City Limits Festival. However, music is not the only reason hipsters enjoy the area so much, just simply a manifestation of the general arts and culture scene that capsulate the city of Austin as a whole. In fact, the reasons that music flourishes and is continually being produced from Austin, is because the city’s population as a whole is eccentric, open, and willing to try anything once.
Another reasons why Austin is so popular and boasts a population that has been named the second most interesting in the US, is because it has a thriving independent and local small business scene. Even though Austin is home to major corporations such as AMD, eBay/Paypal, and Dell, remember, that all these businesses built their homes in the corporate world by innovation and being different. Thus, it should come as no surprise that the people who work for them thrive and pride themselves on being different and open to innovative creative thought as well.
With all this in mind, it should come as no surprise that the unofficial motto of Austin that is found on t-shirts and bumper stickers throughout the city is “Keep Austin Weird.” Young hipsters who are searching for an identity either while in school or out embrace the city that embraces them to identify with their non-traditional sides and discover what they really like and want. Plus, it sure adds up for a lot more fun than more conventional cities!
In fact, throughout the year Austin is home to many non-traditional annual events such as the Henry Pun Off (a competition where people compete for the best wit prize), Eeyore’s Birthday Party, the East Austin reggae Festival and the Pecan Street Festival on Sixth Street. What is not to love about a city that offers you more eclectic events and opportunities with an open mind than anywhere else in America!
